When a Little Refresh Makes a Big Difference
There’s a room in our home that we’ve wanted to remodel for a while—new paint, fresh flooring, a complete transformation. But doing all of it at once hasn’t been in the budget. And because we couldn’t do the ‘big fix,’ I found myself feeling frustrated each time we sat in that space. And we sit there a lot—it’s the family room, our main hangout spot. But it just didn’t have the flow either of us wanted.
Then, one day recently, we made a small change. We bought three new picture frames and finally hung some favorite pictures we had purchased. We moved some florals from a table to an upright, cool metal can where they looked so much better. And suddenly, something shifted. The room had a new energy. It felt fresh, cozy, and inviting. We still haven’t done the full remodel, but now we love the space we have. The frustration and stress? Gone.
How often do we do this in life? We see the big picture of where we want to be—less stressed, more balanced, healthier, happier — but if we can’t do the full transformation right away, we get stuck. But what if, instead of waiting for the ‘perfect time’ to do a full reset, we just took one small step? What if one small change created a shift that made everything feel lighter, more doable, and more at ease?
Sometimes, we don’t need to overhaul everything. Sometimes, a little refresh is enough to create the flow we’ve been looking for.
And what better time than spring—a season that naturally has us all craving a reset?
I’ll still look forward to that full transformation for our family room. But I won’t be frustrated in the meantime. Because a new frame did the trick.
A physical one. And a mental one.
